The Sequel Moon – A Second New Moon in Cancer – 20th July 2020
Another New Moon in the sign of Cancer, almost exactly one month after the last one! If the June moon was about using the positive energy provided by it, the July moon is more about recharging of that energy. Which is an important thing for all of us, we can only push ourselves so far before we burn out with exhaustion.
Like a film sequel, it is sometimes hard to top the original (though sometimes it does happen!). But this second moon for refreshing your moods and outlooks comes at a key moment. As we are looking to move forward a tiny bit more from the lockdown and return to some kind of normality, it’s absolutely necessary that we are prepared mentally as well as physically for it.
This new moon in Cancer will appear early evening UK time at 18:32. Energising the skies, onwards and upwards (if only a little step at a time!) but, most importantly, forwards!
Boost Your Intuition
After the Solar Eclipse on the last New Moon, feelings, in general, seem to be running in all sorts of different directions. It also didn’t help to have our old thorn in the side Mercury Retrograde, stirring up the usual unpalatable cocktail of confusion and chaos! But since the retrograde ceased annoying us all on the 12th July, the pressure seems to have eased up somewhat. The clouds are parting, so to speak and is the best time to boost your intuition, starting by looking more closely at your thoughts and feelings.
Therefore you can create a fresh perspective on the situations that have been, in recent months no doubt, confusing! Refreshing can be cleansing too. Be it a home refurbishment, a rearrange or just a clean and tidy up. A literal clean up is a good as a mindful one. It might be able to do wonders for our own emotions and empathy. Then we may be able to apply that with those we love and care about, lean on or absorb or alternately provide to those who need it most right now.
The Moon in Astrology
This moon happens to have no excess baggage with it. It has to be one of the quietest new moons in the lunar cycle we have had in a long while. With no major shifts in the astrological charts, the watery sign of Cancer makes it the ideal sign for reflection.
The sometimes stern planet of Saturn is opposing the Sun in this new moon, which can add weight to a situation. Saturn can also be known as the Karmic Planet. Back in May, it started its annual retrograde in Capricorn, something which usually lasts until September. This retrograde at this particular time, however, allows us to a pause for introspection, which is why it fits nicely with this new moon. It also usually has the politeness to leave us a few positive doors open for us all, once it’s all over.
When is the Next New Moon?
The next New Moon will appear on the 19th of August 2020 in the early hours and will be in the sign of Virgo. What will this moon mean for us? Found out next month!
