The History of the Crystal Ball
The Crystal Ball is an object that certain psychics use to gain insight about a person or a situation. It is the centre of focus for the psychic and concentrating upon it can give the psychic revealing insight. Each psychic will then take this foundation and interpret and develop the psychic reading according to their personal skills and relay what they see to their client.
The art of looking into a crystal ball is known as scrying. Scrying is effectively the art of looking into any object, often such as glass, crystals or mirrors, liquid such as water or other substances such as smoke, and seeing images or receiving messages that may come forward during this process.
How a Crystal Ball is used
To read the crystal ball, the psychic usually enters a relaxed state. This usually involves them freeing themselves of the day to day “bustle of life” to become an open channel to receive messages. If you like, this is a kind of meditative state, although experienced psychics can often reach this kind of state in the matter of a few seconds, through regular practice.
Cleansing of the crystal ball is also thought to be important by many psychics. Depending on the material of the crystal ball, it can be washed gently using a soft cloth and mild soap, placed under running water, placed in salted water, regenerated by moonlight, or smudged using a sage stick and/or sweet grass. This cleansing process is thought to ensure that the crystal ball is “free and neutral” for the psychic to read.
How does a Crystal Ball aid a psychic in a reading?
Once they have “locked on” to the initial image they may see, they then become an open channel and can pick up extra feelings, visions, or receive messages that can add to this initial image.
The client can ask specific questions. Once the images start to form, they will begin to tell the client what they see. Those that are empathic may pick up on some feelings. Those that receive visions may start seeing extra images or video playback entering their minds. They then relay to their client to give the reading.
The Crystal Ball spans back hundreds of years!
Crystal ball reading is not officially a science, but it is a fascinating experience. Historically the use of scrying goes back to ancient times.
The Shahnameh, a historical epic Persian work written in the late 10th century. It gives a description of the Cup of Jamshid, which was a cup of scrying. Before this, the ancient pagans are purported to have used stones and crystals to foretell the future way, way back, as long ago as 600 AD. The Crystal Beryl was said to be the stone of preference, with a natural shine and resonance when polished.
And finally, let us not forget Snow White and the Magic Mirror! A fairy tale known by many children, where the truth is told by the mirror and good prevails over evil. It is not only “Gypsy Rose Lee” and the old fashioned fairground attractions that we think of when considering the crystal ball.
